Telehealth connects our providers with board-certified specialists in real time using secure video technology. These specialists can evaluate patients, guide treatment decisions, and support our team at the bedside. This allows patients to receive a higher level of care without the delay or stress of being transferred to another facility unless it is truly necessary.
Through the Rural Hospital Virtual Care Network, Jenkins County Medical Center is connected to stroke specialists at Wellstar MCG Health. This partnership provides access to emergency medicine support, critical care expertise, and neurology consultations, including stroke care. JCMC also participates in the REACH program, which connects our team with stroke specialists at Augusta University. Telehealth is used throughout the hospital, including the Emergency Department, where timely access to specialists can make a meaningful difference in patient care and outcomes.
Telehealth is an important part of how we continue to grow and improve care for our community. At Jenkins County Medical Center, we are working to increase the use of telehealth across our services, especially in the Emergency Department. By using telehealth more consistently, we are able to bring specialty care to patients even when a transfer to another facility is not required. This approach helps ensure patients receive the right care, at the right time, in the most appropriate setting.
