Telehealth connects our providers with board-certified specialists in real time using secure video technology. These specialists can evaluate patients, guide treatment decisions, and support our team at the bedside. This allows patients to receive a higher level of care without the delay or stress of being transferred to another facility unless it is truly necessary.
Through the Rural Hospital Virtual Care Network, Jenkins County Medical Center is connected to specialists in Augusta through the Medical College of Georgia and Wellstar MCG Health. This partnership provides access to emergency medicine support, critical care expertise, and neurology consultations, including stroke care. JCMC also participates in the REACH program, which connects our team with stroke specialists at Augusta University. Telehealth is used throughout the hospital, including the Emergency Department, where timely access to specialists can make a meaningful difference in patient care and outcomes.
Telehealth is an important part of how we continue to grow and improve care for our community. At Jenkins County Medical Center, we are working to increase the use of telehealth across our services, especially in the Emergency Department. By using telehealth more consistently, we are able to bring specialty care to patients even when a transfer to another facility is not required. This approach helps ensure patients receive the right care, at the right time, in the most appropriate setting.
Telehealth brings meaningful benefits to our community, including faster access to specialists during emergencies, fewer unnecessary transfers to larger facilities, care delivered locally with added expert support, and improved outcomes through timely decision-making. Patients and families can feel confident knowing that advanced medical expertise is always within reach.
Telehealth is not a replacement for the care you receive at Jenkins County Medical Center. It is an added layer of support. Our physicians, nurses, and clinical staff remain at the center of your care, with specialists available to assist when needed. This collaboration helps ensure each patient receives thoughtful, well-informed treatment.
Telehealth is one more way Jenkins County Medical Center continues to invest in the health of our community. By strengthening partnerships with trusted institutions and expanding access to specialty care, we are helping ensure our patients receive the care they need, today and in the years ahead.
