Our team provides individualized Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy based on each patient’s needs, abilities and goals. Services are available for hospital patients, Swing Bed patients and people receiving treatment through our Outpatient Therapy Clinic, including those recovering from an illness, injury, surgery or hospital stay.
Physical Therapy helps patients improve strength, balance, movement and mobility. Our therapists work with people recovering from surgery, stroke, injury, pain, neurological conditions and other illnesses that affect their ability to move safely. Treatment focuses on helping patients increase their physical function, reduce pain and return to daily activities with greater confidence and independence. Physical Therapy is available for hospital and Swing Bed patients, as well as through our Outpatient Therapy Clinic.
Occupational Therapy helps patients regain the skills needed for everyday activities such as dressing, bathing, eating and safely moving around the home. It can be especially helpful for people recovering from a stroke, surgery, injury or illness that affects their ability to complete daily tasks. Our Occupational Therapy team provides individualized treatment, helpful techniques and guidance on equipment that can make daily activities safer and easier. The goal is to help each patient return to the highest possible level of independence.
Speech Therapy serves children, adults and older adults with communication, cognitive, voice, feeding or swallowing needs related to developmental challenges, illness, injury, stroke or neurological conditions. Services may include evaluations and treatment for speech and language skills, memory and problem-solving, voice concerns, swallowing difficulties and feeding needs. Patients and caregivers also receive education and strategies they can use at home.
Our Outpatient Therapy Clinic provides continued rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, illness, stroke or injury. The clinic allows patients to continue working toward their recovery goals after leaving the hospital or Swing Bed Program.
JCMC also offers a separate outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation program for people living with chronic lung conditions. The program includes exercise, breathing techniques, education and support to help patients manage symptoms, build strength and improve their daily lives.
