Jenkins County Medical Center is currently seeking a Social Worker MSW in our Geriatric Psychiatric Unit. This position requires the candidate hold a MSW or a LCSW. The Social Worker’s primary responsibilities are to provide psychotherapy, counseling and other services in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The social worker may also coordinate patient discharge planning, while complying with required standards for medical/legal responsibilities.

The social worker will identify psychological emotional and or behavioral issues that impact the patient’s well-being. Counsel individuals, groups and or families to help them understand challenges and develop treatment plans. The Social Worker will keep the patient, family and mental health team involved and updated on the treatment plan, discharge plan and aftercare plans. The chosen candidate will manage up to a 10-patent caseload. All documentation standards governing our facility will be followed. Must have a minimum of one year experience working with the frail or elderly population. Geriatric social work experience in a hospital, long term care or community setting.

This position will work approximately 12 hours weekly and report to the Program Director.

Required Education:
Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school of social work.
