(The schedule for this full-time position is 7pm-7am)
The MHT will work with the mental health team to provide care to acutely ill adult and geriatric patients in the On Track Senior Behavioral Health Unit per all standards governing our facility. The MHT maintains overall departmental operations in accordance with the facilities mission and philosophy, participates and maintains performance improvement activities to assure highest standards of care and provides an environment of patient-focused care. Your role requires you to spend more time with the patients than any other staff member. The MHT reports to the Charge Nurse and Program Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure continual delivery of high-quality nursing care
- Adopt innovative nursing practices to improve our facility
- Take vital signs
- Monitor patients’ level of mental alertness and functioning
- Maintain a healthy, collaborative team environment
- Help patients with personal hygiene activities such as bathing and getting dressed
- Provide direct care to patients, which includes facilitating social and emotional needs and evaluating patient progress
- Provide direct patient care , guidance and positive role modeling
- Provide social support for patients by creating and encouraging patients to take advantage of opportunities such as support groups, social activities and other therapeutic measures, as well as participating with patients where appropriate
- Use of mechanical and technical equipment required for the responsibilities assigned
- Ability to think and work effectively under stress with frequent interruptions; to move, sit, stand, walk and bend intermittently throughout the work day, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current CNA License in the state
- 2 plus years’ psych experience preferred
- Current ACLS preferred
