Jenkins County Medical Center (JCMC) is proud to announce an exciting project is underway to update its patient entrance. The renovation will improve patient flow and streamline the registration process for outpatient services such as lab work, and radiology services. This project, funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Grant, represents a significant investment in the future of JCMC’s healthcare services, ensuring a more efficient and welcoming experience for all patients.

Governor Brian Kemp awarded more than $217 million in grants to healthcare facilities across Georgia to support COVID-19 prevention and mitigation efforts. Of this, over $170 million was allocated to hospitals, with individual grants reaching up to $950,000 per facility.

These funds are designated for capital improvements only, such as construction, equipment purchases, and upgrading ventilation systems. The ARPA grant cannot be used for operational costs, ensuring that funds are used directly for tangible, lasting improvements.

“This grant has been instrumental in funding major projects that enhance our facility, including the construction of our state-of-the-art outpatient therapy building and visiting provider offices,” said CEO Andrea Graham. “This development brings more specialists to our community, ensuring that local residents can receive the specialized care they need, right here at home.”

In addition to the improvements in outpatient care, the ongoing project to update the main entrance will help better control patient flow and streamline outpatient registrations.

“Our goal for these upgrades is to reduce wait times, improve overall efficiency, and enhance the patient experience as they navigate our services,” said Graham. “While the construction is underway, we ask patients to be aware of some temporary changes in patient traffic flow. We will provide updates regularly and our team will be available to assist with any questions or concerns during this time.”

Construction began this week and, once complete, the revamped entrance and new registration process will provide an easier, more convenient experience for everyone visiting JCMC. Funded by the ARPA grant, this project underscores JCMC’s dedication to enhancing healthcare access and quality for Jenkins County residents.

Graham added, “We look forward to sharing more updates and thank you for your continued support of Jenkins County Medical Center.”

NOTICE: During construction, the main lobby will be closed to the public. Patients and visitors are asked to use the Emergency Department entrance.
