The newly installed Fujifilm FCT iStream Computed Tomography (CT) scanner provides next-level imaging for patients in the rural community.

Millen, GEORGIA| September 6, 2024  Jenkins County Medical Center is the first in the United States to install FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corporation’s FCT iStream 128-slice computed tomography (CT) system. The new, advanced system employs AI optimized workflow and special vision model iterative reconstruction to provide faster imaging, ensuring that procedures go more quickly for patients, and enhancing image sharpness while reducing patient dose. With this new CT scanner, Jenkins County Medical Center can perform faster, high-quality emergency room (ER) and outpatient scans for their patients and the local community.

“Our new state-of-the-art scanner will be a game changer for our patients. With the new system, we are bringing advanced imaging technology to our rural community and eliminating the need for patients to drive 100 miles to receive the latest state-of-the-art diagnostic care they need,” said Antoine Poythress, Chief Executive Officer of Jenkins County Medical Center. “We are grateful to the Georgia Heart Rural Tax Credit Program donors for their generous contributions which has allowed us to invest in this advanced technology to provide top-notch care to our local community.”

The new FCT iStream CT scanner is an upgrade and replacement for an older CT scanner that was on-site at the medical center. The new system comes equipped with several technologies that enhance the clarity of patient images essential for diagnosis, while driving down patient dose. The FCT iStream CT system leverages HiMAR Plus (High image quality Metal Artifact Reduction) technology to detect and correct artifacts from orthopedic hardware in images. This is especially helpful when scanning patients with metal implants, as the implants can distort CT images, making it difficult to clearly visualize details in and around them.

Jenkins County Medical Center’s new system helps streamline the entire image capture process with amazing, upgraded image quality. With faster imaging, more scans can be performed per day contributing to improved care and access for patients in the community.

To book an appointment for your CT scan please have your physician’s order and call the medical center at (478) 982-4221.
