Millen, GA | Sept. 12, 2023 – Jenkins County Medical Center has been treating adult patients with mental health conditions since 2019. The On Track Geri Psych Behavioral Health Unit was established September 9, 2019, as an inpatient geriatric psychiatry program to treat patients experiencing mental, emotional, and behavioral challenges that come with aging.
Katy Hood, Director of On Track Geri Psych for JCMC, states: “JCMC is excited to celebrate four years of caring for adults suffering from mental illnesses. It is important that families and the medical professionals in Jenkins County and surrounding areas know there is a service that can help with the senior population suffering from depression and other conditions associated with behavioral health.”
The Geri Psych unit specializes in conditions associated with several mental and behavioral disorders in adults 55 years of age and older. The 10-bed, secured facility serves adults experiencing some of the following conditions:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Cognitive changes
- Mood disorders
- Paranoia
- Hallucinations
- Delusions
- Phobias
- Psychosis
- Suicidal and homicidal thoughts/actions
